3 Food You Have Misunderstood
In these times, our livelihood and our diet have been very synthetic and far from natural. We, as humans have been eating the type of food that has never been meant to be eaten by us. Instead of natural grains and meat, we choose to go for packaged and processed food. These habits have fatal consequences and have been known to cause deadly diseases like cancer to us. But on the other hand, I can understand that we cannot live on natural diets and have no choice but to consume processed foods, but we can minimize the consumption of processed foods. Today, I am going to burst 3 food myths that have been spreading amongst people.
#1 Mayonnaise is not unhealthy
Mayonnaise is believed to be a not-so-unhealthy dip and spread many people consume it on a daily basis. Mayo, especially the packaged variant, is one of the most unhealthy dips in this world. It is very high in calories and contains high amounts of saturated and trans fats without any protein, you should never go for packaged mayo as it can be a weight-gaining factor in your diet. It is purely made up of hydrogenated oils, egg yolk, and some densner.
#2 Ghee/Clarified butter is unhealthy
We have always heard that eating Ghee is not good because it is high in saturated fats and these fats are only needed in small quantities by our bodies. Eating more of these fats will cause cholesterol and other heart diseases. Ghee or clarified butter has medium/small chain saturated fats, which cause no harm at all to the heart, and that fat is in fact good for our body. Many people in the west are now using clarified butter and we Indians have used it for ages.
#3 Diet Sodas will make you gain weight.
You only gain weight because of one thing, eating more calories than you can burn. Diet sodas are pretty low on calories. Some of them are even zero-calorie drinks. So there is no way you are ever going to gain weight using them. And also, they are not unhealthy, as there are no concrete studies that show the side effects of artificial sweeteners. Also, diet sodas can suppress your appetite and can help you in a fat loss diet, so having a diet soda occasionally is fine.
These are some of the food myths a lot of people tend to believe with closed eyes. I wish this article helped some people understand food and nutrition better. Stay clean, stay healthy!
