Some days ago, I discussed YRF’s Spy Universe, considering it a massive revolution in Indian cinema since this is the first time a cinematic universe has been created on this scale. But this is not the only cinematic universe we have right now. We have Rohit Shetty’s cop universe starring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, and Sidharth Malhotra. Now, we have another cinematic universe, and this time, it is in the genre of horror comedy. Yes! Dinesh Vijan, an Indian film producer, who has made movies like Love Aaj Kal and Go Goa Gone, is creating this universe, and it already looks pretty promising to me.

The first movie of this universe was Stree. Stree was a huge hit in Indian theatres and collected around Rs 160 crores on a budget of just Rs 30 crore. The second movie on this list was Roohi, which did not do well in the theatres, but Jhanvi Kapoor was praised for her role as the possessed girl. The third movie where it all was connected was Bhhediya, which was recently released. In the last scene of the movie, we see Rajkumar Rao’s character make a cameo appearance and talk about Stree. The franchise will be expanded with movies like Stree 2 and Munjha (starring Shradhha Kapoor and Tara Sutariya). A movie called Vampire and a sequel to Roohi will also be made in the future. Shraddha Kapoor appeared in a song of Bhediya, and Kriti Sanon was also seen in a song of Stree. This just goes on to show that the cinematic universe was scheduled from the start.

I think this movie will be successful, as the fans are loving this genre of horror comedy, and it has a lot of scope in the future. One problem that the makers will face will be with the character of Rajkumar Rao. He played different characters in Stree and in Roohi. If the movies come together, it will be interesting how the makers will tackle this error.

This truly is a big comeback for Bollywood. The film industry was suffering from a loss of popularity for a long time, but the upcoming projects seem very exciting, and the latest releases such as Brahmastra and Drishyam 2 have bought the audiences back to the theatres. Does the future of Bollywood look bright to you? Comment down below.
