A Smart TV for Rs. 55,000?
Now you can buy a Smart TV without breaking the bank or selling off a kidney
There sure are a lot of smart TVs in the market so it’s understandable that one is met with an onslaught of options to choose from in order to make the right purchase. The new QLED TV for Mi stands out from the rest because of a few reasons. The first being that it utilizes a new display technology called the QLED. You must be familiar with LCD and LED, so what is QLED? Technology-wise, it’s closer to LED than OLED. The quantum dot filter that is used in this TV reduces backlight bleed, increases the overall brightness, and gives you richer and beautiful colours on the screen.
This new model from Mi is a 55 inch 4K QLED panel, the first of its kind from Xiaomi India. Most OLED panels tend to be expensive and cost over a lakh — that’s where the QLED technology steps in. The Mi QLED also has support for Dolby Vision HDR standard and HD 10, HD 10 plus, and HLG. Nice to see Xiaomi going the extra step here! This is definitely an excellent QLED panel, a clear step up from the LED panels that we have generally seen.
So, what about audio? There is definitely an improved audio setup which can be observed here. The older 65-inch Mi TV comes with two 10W speakers. In contrast, the new 55-inch QLED comes with 6 speakers with a total sound output of 30W. Be it for a casual movie night or an impromptu gaming sesh, this TV is up for it. Speaking of gaming, you can hook up all modern consoles to this TV via the HDMI ports at the back. For the gamers out there, there is an auto low latency mode in here which means if you plug in something like a PS5, the latency drops right down to 5 milliseconds. The internal storage has increased from 16 to 32 gigs and the TV is powered by the MediaTek 9611 chip with 4 cortex A55 cores with 2GB RAM. Other TVs come with only 8 gigs of storage which can be a problem.
Speaking of settings, you have a ton of control over user settings in terms of display, audio, etc. The new Mi TV ‘wakes up’ much faster and you also get Google Assistant and Chromecast accessibility built right in. You also get a patchwall with restricted access for kids, separate content categories, universal search, and a recommended section for those times when you don’t know what to watch.
All in all, I definitely think the new Mi QLED is a great buy and is certainly cheaper than other alternatives.
