MediaTek is all set to rule the roost and be one of the first companies to be smartphone-ready for the launch of the 5G spectrum in India. Soon after they launched the Dimensity 1000 chipset, the Dimensity 1000+ came hot at its heels, offering a few tweaks and important changes that change the game when it comes to flagship chipsets.

Even though they have recently launched the Dimensity 1100 and the Dimensity 1200, there are yet to be any smartphones powered by there to release in India. So, for now let’s focus on what makes the Dimensity 1000+ processor tick.

The main difference between the new chip and the old one seems to be the addition of 144Hz refresh rate support. By comparison, the Dimensity 1000 supports 120Hz at FHD+ resolution or 90Hz at QHD+. The chip also touts MediaTek’s UltraSave technology for more power-efficient 5G connectivity. On the other hand, the Dimensity 1000+ shares a lot of features from the Dimensity 1000 in terms of CPU and GPU configuration and clock speeds.

Where the differences lie are in extra features which come with already existing tech. The Dimensity 1000+ seems to bring some additional benefits to the table when it comes to the battery conservation department with the new UltraSave feature. With support for a refresh rate of 144Hz, the MiraVision Engine by MediaTek comes with some improved benefits like better HDR and SDR to HDR conversion.

Already, the Dimensity 1000+ chipset has entered the Indian market with the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G and the Realme X7 Pro 5G. Both these smartphones have premium features and have been marketed as flagship smartphones mainly due to the Dimensity chipset that they both carry. Early reviews by Indian tech vloggers have shown that both the phones come with amazing camera configurations and display the best of results thanks to their aud-camera setups and optimization due to the Dimensity 1000+ chipset.

While most MediaTek chips are manufactured on TSMC foundries, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ takes after its predecessor, relying on a 7nm manufacturing process. It features four high-performance ARM Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and four ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2GHz, along with a 9-core Mali G77 MP9 GPU. The core configuration remains the same as the MediaTek Dimensity 1000, but this one can support 144Hz FHD+ displays, and an enhanced MiraVision Engine for SDR to HDR conversion, and HDR10+ support.

The Dimensity 1000+ is perfect for gaming purposes as well because its multiple enhancements help in climbing CPU and GPU frequencies. The MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC also comes with the company’s own 5G modem that has features to dynamically switch between low and high bandwidths depending on the app. MediaTek claims this helps save power by up to 32%.

So far, of the handful of smartphones powered by the Dimensity 1000+ processor in the global market, only the Realme X7 Pro and the Oppo Reno 5 Pro have launched in India as of now. Other phones like the Redmi K30 Ultra and the iQoo Z1 have been available for some time and it’s unlikely that the respective brands will launch a device in the highly competitive Indian smartphone market.
