While Snapdragon’s 8 Gen 1 was launched in the middle of 2022, everyone thought that the processor is surely going to overtake all competition to be the best. Dimensity 9200 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Specs
The Mediatek Dimensity 9200 SoC was produced using TSMC’s Second Gen 4nm technology. It is the first SoC to be built on the 2nd gen 4nm fabrication process The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor has been built on the first gen 4nm technology. While both fabrication processes are nice, the Mediatek D9200 clearly wins in this area because TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process (2nd Gen) is much faster and more efficient than the other processor in question. The processor benefits from great levels of performance with TSMC 4nm 2nd Gen production process.
The octa-core CPU in the Dimensity 9200 is configured as follows: one Cortex-X3 core running at 3.05 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores operating at 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores operating at 1.8 GHz. One Cortex-X2 core runs at 3 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores run at 2.5 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores run at 1.8 GHz in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. Although the basic structures of the two SoCs appear to be fairly similar at first glance, Dimensity 9200 is substantially faster because of the addition of Cortex X3.
The graphics processing unit (GPU) of the Dimensity 9200 is the Mali-G715 Immortalis MC11, and the Adreno 730 is the GPU of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Because the GPU in the Dimensity 9200 has eleven more processing units than the GPU in the Snapdragon, the Mediatek D9200 SoC performs better in terms of graphics.
While Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 supports LPDDR 5, Dimensity 9200 supports LPDDR5X memory. Additionally, Mediatek Dimensity 9200’s memory frequency of 8533 MHz is significantly higher than Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s 3200 MHz.
320MP cameras can be used with the Mediatek Dimensity 9200 chipset. The chipset’s ISP can also record 8K HDR videos. The camera engine on the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 can only support up to 200MP in camera, but it can shoot 8K videos as well. Even in terms of optics, Mediatek Dimensity 9200 excels.
For Full HD+ displays, Dimensity 9200 provides a refresh rate of 240Hz, while for WQHD displays, it supports a refresh rate of 144Hz. A QHD+ display at 144 Hz and a 4K Ultra HD display at 60 Hz are both supported by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has higher resolution support, but Dimensity 9200 has better refresh rates.
