Is the Dimensity 900 Chipset Good Enough for Gaming?
I haven’t yet used a smartphone with the Dimensity 900 chip inside it, but from what I can see of the internal specs of this chipset, it seems like it was made for a premium 5G device that isn’t too high on the price scale. So, not exactly flagship, but it can be termed premium.
From what I found, the Dimensity 900 processor is great at handling a lot of areas be it videography, gaming, noise reduction etc. The fact that it comes with a 6nm fabrication process is a very good thing as this gives it the ability to handle long-range connections, have exceptional power efficiency and really good battery power saving efficiency.
Have you heard of the MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0? This is what primarily makes the Dimensity 900 a premium level gaming chipset.
In a lot of online multiplayer games, one needs to be on the call and simultaneously kill all the bad guys on the screen. The MTK HyperEngine assists in call and data concurrency which is helpful for someone while they are gaming because the user will be able to keep
a 5G data connection open and uninterrupted during the game, while simultaneously making or accepting a VoLTE call on the second SIM.
Another helpful feature of the Dimensity 900 is the 5G HSR (high speed rail) mode for gaming. This allows your 5G phone to search and connect to the lowest latency available to minimize online ping. This makes your game load faster, and have no disconnections. Say, you’re in a moving vehicle and still want to play. It will allow you to do that as the relative distance and thus latency to each tower changes rapidly.
MediaTek Dimensity chips with HyperEngine 3.0, like the D900, can offer 5G tethering to other devices without impacting their own gaming performance. This means you can let your friend borrow your hotspot and it won’t affect your performance.
It has a 5G modem and Wi-Fi integrated both into the single chip. This allows them to work closer together for better power efficiency resulting in up to 33% power savings compared to alternative platforms. Isn’t that neat?
