Is the New Oppo 5G Smartphone Worth Buying?
Jury’s out on the new Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G
I have an unhealthy obsession with watching unboxing videos on YouTube and recently I came across a few videos talking about the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G and let me tell you, this is one interesting smartphone. This new smartphone by Oppo has come at an interesting time in India when 5G smartphones have started to enter the market at all sorts of price points. In this slowly crowded market, it is important to give your users premium features such as a big battery, a powerful processor, and great cameras at a controlled price. Oppo has done just that by releasing the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G, their flagship 5G smartphone which has everything one could ask for and more.
The first thing that caught my eye was how shiny and cool the hardware of the phone looked. Oppo has gone with an interesting color scheme: a soft shade of astral blue. Despite the slim size of the phone, Oppo has still managed to cram in a big 4,350 mAh battery, and not just that, they’ve kept it light at 175g for a modern flagship smartphone. Because the phone is so slim, you have a camera bump on the rear with 4 shiny cameras at the back of the phone. Not to sound like a WhatsApp forward uncle but the phones are getting slimmer and the humans are not.
The cameras are definitely the highlight of this phone with a 64MP sensor and dynamic range. Oppo’s extra HD photos pictures appear to be quite impressive. Even when you zoom in quite a bit, the details don’t appear ultra grainy or blurry. The front camera on the other hand comes with 32MP and takes really crisp shots. Speaking of the audio, even though the phone comes with only one speaker, it can get really loud and you can play music to your heart’s content, or at least till the neighbors come knocking down your door.
I love how the curved rounded edges of the OLED display screen contribute to the premium feel Oppo was going for. The gorgeous 90Hz OLED panel is sure to make one’s experience smooth af. The display has a 90 Hz refresh rate which makes everything from scrolling, launching apps, reading, watching videos, and streaming Netflix really streamlined and smooth. Storage is important and this smartphone comes in a 128GB variant and it has headphones included in the box and a Type-C charger cable that supports 64W of super fast charging.
At the heart of the phone, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor comes with a 7 nm part and 5G support. The latter is really important because 5G is going to be huge in the coming months as India takes the first step towards auctioning the 5G spectrum. The Oppo Reno 5 Pro seems to be a smartphone that can tackle the heaviest games with ease which is not a surprise as it comes with a pretty powerful processor attached and 8 gigs of RAM. As per the gaming reviews I’ve watched on YouTube, the gameplay seems ultra-smooth, especially something like COD which shows high-quality details even at maximum fps.
If you ask me, I totally think this smartphone is worth buying simply because of how well-streamlined all the specifications are, and it’s not an over-the-top look at all. It’s great and classy and totally worth 35K for the flagship-level features that you get.
