MediaTek Dimensity 6020: Powering Entry-Level Smartphones
MediaTek is again in the news and no guesses for what the purpose would be. MediaTek is launching one chipset after the other. After launching a lot of chipsets, mainly catering towards high-end or mid-level segment smartphones, MediaTek recently announced another chipset meant only for entry-level smartphones.
All those looking forward to buying entry-level smartphones with 5G-enabled are in for the good news. MediaTek announced Dimensity 6020 recently just for the upcoming entry-level 5G smartphones. This newest chipset comes following the debut of the Dimensity 7200 earlier in February.
The chipset comes with Octa processor — 2X Arm Cortex-A76 clocking at a speed up to 2.2GHz and 6X Arm Cortex-A55 clocking at a speed up to 2GHz. The chipset promises to give quicker app performances in order to enhance a smartphone’s daily usage. The HyperEngine 3.0 Lite technology enables to have a quicker network response and a more dependable connection. Thanks to the 7nm process chip, the chipset is quite power efficient, helping to increase the phone’s battery.
The chipset comes with a line of features -
HyperEngine 3.0 Lite gaming technologies — The whole gaming experience depends upon the 3rd generation 5G Call/Data Concurrency ensuring there are no missed calls during gaming. The HyperEngine 3.0 promises a quicker and seamless network, more reliable connectivity to ensure gamers always stay connected and longer gameplay for avid gamers.
Smartphone experiences — This chipset can help improve the everyday smartphone experiences. It provides support for faster 2-lane UFS 2.2 storage that accelerates data transfers 2X versus competitor alternatives.
Faster 5G connectivity — 5G smartphones can access faster speeds and greater reach all with the help of 2CC-CA. Faster 5G network helps in a seamless handover between two 5G connection areas across a coverage layer, where there is a 30% greater throughput layer coverage than what would be without CA.
Dual 5G SIM — One can have access to consistent 5G speeds, and the opportunity for VoNR if one wants the best quality voice and video call experience from both SIM connections.
MediaTek 5G UltraSave — 5G UltraSave adds a slew of extensive power-saving enhancements that extends one’s battery life when using 5G carrier aggregation.
Camera configuration — It can support high-detail cameras up to 64MP. Low-light and high-detail photos are always clear and sharp, all thanks to hardware-accelerated noise reduction technologies. The AI-camera enhancements are available too.
Power-efficient Chip — The Dimensity 6020 runs with great power efficiency, all ensured by the TSMC N7 (7nm-class) chip production process thus extending battery life to keep one connected all day.
Processor — It comes with the Octa processor — 2X Arm Cortex-A76 clocking at a speed up to 2.2GHz and 6X Arm Cortex-A55 clocking at a speed up to 2GHz. The chipset promises to give quicker app performances in order to enhance a smartphone’s daily usage and GPU Type Arm Mali-G57 MC2 for graphics.
Display — It supports max display Resolution of 2520 x 1080 with Max Refresh Rate 90Hz and 120Hz optional.
With features offered , this seems to be a major breakthrough for entry-level smartphones that are going to be 5G enabled. One can expect the next series of affordable 5G smartphones in the next quarter to run on the new Dimensity 6020.
