Smartphone review: Oppo A15s
This nifty little phone pushes all the right buttons
Oppo recently launched the A15s in their budget series in India, which is an upgrade from the Oppo A15. While there isn’t much change in its shape and design, there are some changes in its processor and the way it functions. The new phone addresses some complaints that users had regarding the A15 that have now been incorporated into the new release.
The main highlight of this smartphone is its rear triple-camera setup and its new 3D curved design. The new A15s is wider at 2.97” as compared to the A15 which is 0.31”, though the thickness and weight are the same. The display specifications remain the same with both phones having an IPS LCD screen of 720x1600p resolution. The aspect ratio is also the same at 20:9.
The internal hardware of the new A15s is where things start to change. The newer model comes with a single storage of 64GB and a RAM of 4GB and is priced at Rs.11,490 at the time of posting this blog. The phone has more RAM which means that more applications can run at the same time, which makes the device faster. If you prefer a phone with more storage, worry not because you can even insert a micro SD card up to 256GB. This kind of 100% increase in memory from the OPPO A15 is a really useful feature. More memory allows you to store more songs, videos, photos and install more applications. It comes in three colours: black, white and silver.
One can purchase it via Amazon and in physical stores as well. The MediaTek Helio P35 chipset that it comes equipped with is a pretty good processor when it comes to using the phone for daily tasks and switching between apps with ease. It has a pretty decent battery of 4100 mAh and hence doesn’t weigh too much (175 grams). Further, the triple camera set-up that it comes with has around 60% more megapixels than OPPO A15. More resolution generally means better picture quality, so that’s always a plus. It also comes with a variety of modes like panorama, time-lapse, colour filters, and more.
My mother has been using this phone for 2–3 weeks now and so far she really loves it. She keeps sending me photos from her little garden and the shots come out quite vibrant and sharp. She hasn’t faced any issues with lagging or difficulty in scrolling or loading any apps. The 13MP camera really works in her favour as does the Helio P35 processor. This phone also has a really good battery life of 4,100 mAh which is perfect if you want to watch youtube for hours and not drain the battery too quickly.
This phone already comes with 64GB of internal storage but if you’re someone who loves to take a lot of photos and video or download songs on your phone, you can even increase the storage to 256GB. Go for this one if you want a normal smartphone with a good camera and an HD screen.
There isn’t a ton of new features in this particular phone but I feel for the price it’s selling at, it does a pretty decent job.
