We all love to eat chips, biscuits, chocolates, snack bars, and all other kinds of packaged foods, even after knowing how bad they are for health, and the excuse we give to ourselves is, ‘this bag of chips can’t be that bad for me!’. That is exactly what we are made to believe by all the food companies. The packaged food market that includes everything from our cereals to our cooking sauces, is worth billions of dollars worldwide.

And all food companies know that revealing the truth about how these products are made and what they contain is going to affect their sales a lot, so these companies lie straight to our faces, and we accept every lie that they put forward. With the world seemingly becoming ‘health-conscious, the number of healthy foods is increasing day by day. Now there is a healthy variant of everything from bread to biscuits.

But the truth is, these healthy foods are not healthy at all. For example, many people consider brown or whole wheat bread better than white bread, but reading the ingredients like on the packaging will tell you that there is only a minor difference between the both, with just a tiny bit of whole wheat added to the bread so that it can be termed as ‘whole wheat.’

Even the ingredient list of these packaged foods lies to us, as they can manipulate it and find loopholes in the food administration guidelines.

The biggest enemy of our health is sugar, and sugar is present in every packaged food in absolute abundance. Even your ‘no-sugar’ foods are full of sugar, but these food companies use a different kind of sugar which has the same ill-effects on our body so that they can get the right to name their product ‘sugar-free’. Another set of enemies our health has is the high number of preservatives used in these foods. The preservatives are so bad for their health that some of them are mentioned in the ingredient list as a code name so that consumers do not understand what they are consuming. Some of these preservatives are the leading cause of cancer in our bodies.

Due to the spread of knowledge through the internet, it is easier to spread such crucial knowledge to the masses. We should make use of this opportunity to spread the word about the dark side of the food industry so that the next time someone thinks about having packaged foods, they truly what harm can cause.
