Why Delhi Metro is the best
The Delhi Metro is everything that the streets of the NCR are not: clean, orderly, smooth, and quiet. Not only does it get me where I want to go reliably and comfortably, the Metro is one of the few places where I know exactly what is going on and what the layout of the city looks like.
There was a time when we used to wait for a DTC bus to show up at a bus stop for 20–30 minutes. Now compare that to hardly one or two minutes of waiting time for a metro. And what if you miss one? There’s no tears spilled as the next is just a minute away!
The Delhi Metro is not just beautiful but it is designed for maximum comfort and convenience. Also, the technological features like amazing frequency, regular announcements, automated doors and the likes were a world apart when they started.
Not only the metro, but even the Delhi Metro stations are class apart. Sure they are always crowded, but that’s just got to do with our population! Be it the gigantic multi level Rajiv Chowk station, or the INA station with its amazing display of handicrafts and paintings, the Delhi Metro stations are as swanky as the metro itself.
Remember the time when commuting to places like Chandni Chowk or Kashmere Gate seemed like a mountainous task? The Delhi Metro has certainly reduced that task to a matter of 20 minutes.
It’s so good to see the Delhi Metro playing its part in saving the environment. It has won many awards because of it being environment friendly, including one from the United Nations and an ISO 14001 certification for environment friendly construction.
Now, the Delhi Metro might have inspired Mumbai’s stint with Metro which not only took forever to finish but promptly drowned at the first sign of rain. At the risk of commencing another Delhi-Mumbai war here, I must say that Mumbai might benefit by taking a few lessons from the Delhi Metro.
